New Strategic Plan already has momentum
Building on the success of our prior work, Greater Texas Foundation has crafted a new Strategic Plan for 2025-29 that is an evolution of our grantmaking focus and a recommitment to collaboration and knowledge sharing.

We unveiled the details of the new Strategic Plan at a webinar last December 9, attended by over 250 grantees and partners. GTF team members outlined the plan and answered participants’ questions.Â

Board Member Updates
Greater Texas Foundation wished a fond farewell to longtime board member Dr. Samuel Gillespie, who retired from the board in 2024. Dr. Gillespie began his board tenure in 1984 and chaired three different committees before being elected Vice Chair.
In honor of Dr. Gillespie’s many years of service, the foundation made a grant of $50,000 to Texas A&M Foundation to establish the Dr. Samuel Gillespie Endowed Scholarship. Read Dr. Gillespie’s reflections about the evolution of GTF and his many years of teaching in an interview on our website.Â

Also last fall, Janet Handley joined the board and became chair of the Finance & Investment Committee. Ms. Handley’s deep experience managing significant financial portfolios is especially valuable to the foundation. She previously served as an ex-officio advisor to the board’s Finance & Investment Committee.
