Opportunity youth and returning adult students may struggle to find a sense of belonging and purpose early in college, which can affect persistence and completion. With a $774,737 grant from Greater Texas Foundation, the Aspen Opportunity Youth Forum will integrate belonging- and purpose-centered practices into the Minding College Minds toolkit developed by the Meadows Mental Health Policy Institute. The project will also provide technical assistance and peer learning to up to 15 Texas community colleges, helping faculty and staff better support student motivation, connection, and success. Aspen will also work with participating colleges to develop an ecosystem of community partners to expand and deepen supports and services for both students and their families.
