Rural communities are investing in Promise programs to expand college access, but evidence of their long-term impact is critical. With a $300,000 grant from Greater Texas Foundation, The University of Texas at Austin will examine how the first Rural College Promise programs (Red River, Texoma, and TJC) influence students’ educational attainment, workforce outcomes, and economic mobility. The study will assess costs and benefits for individuals and communities, including whether these programs are closing attainment gaps and strengthening rural economies.
