With a $100,000 grant from Greater Texas Foundation, The Texas Tribune will increase production of nonpartisan, public service journalism on higher education issues during the coronavirus pandemic. Articles will cover a wide range of topics including systems that are working to support students to stay enrolled in postsecondary education, racial and socioeconomic disparities amplified by the pandemic, obstacles to students’ ability to continue their education, conversations about price and value given the transition to online learning, and analysis of data regarding student enrollment and dropouts during this unprecedented time. This project builds on GTF’s previous investments in The Texas Tribune’s reporting to raise awareness of education challenges and solutions for student success.
