Grant Announcement: Data-to-Action for Parenting Students in Texas

In Texas, 11% of parenting students complete a degree in six years compared with 46% of non-parenting students. In 2023, in hopes of supporting these students, Texas required that colleges collect data on parenting students and develop new supports for them, but many colleges are struggling to build efficient and useful data systems and use those data to inform programming. With help from a $454,812 grant from Greater Texas Foundation, the Urban Institute will support Texas colleges in implementing mandated data collection and using the collected data to develop actionable strategies to better support parenting students. These colleges will work with other members of the multi-state Data-to-Action Campaign to support long-term structural change to increase educational attainment for parenting students and their families.
