A $600,000 grant from Greater Texas Foundation will support Texas 2036 in its efforts to create a unique, robust, and multi-faceted set of data infrastructures that combine data from multiple state agencies into accessible and actionable data products that can inform school districts, community colleges, the media, and policymakers. The three workflows will result in a better understanding of how to support Texas students by shedding light on: 1) how much funding is available under existing laws if schools partner with local community colleges to optimize course offerings, align program strategies, and improve student outcomes; 2) the number of Texans by year and university who dropped out after completing 60 hours of course work and current earnings of those individuals; and 3) a better understanding of ways Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) can improve access for incarcerated individuals to educational programs, address disparities in both higher education and criminal justice spaces, and increase odds of post-incarceration workforce success.
