E3 Alliance strengthens and expands Central Texas College Attainment Network (CenTxCAN)

In Central Texas, the college completion rate for students from low-income households was 39% within six years of high school graduation for the class of 2017, compared to 68% for students from non-low-income households.
To close this gap, E3 Alliance will use a $295,363 grant from the Greater Texas Foundation to expand the work of the Central Texas College Attainment Network (CenTxCAN). The network, which includes Central Texas higher education institutions, community-based organizations, and education service providers, is dedicated to improving postsecondary success for underrepresented students by aligning with their needs.

CenTxCAN’s members will work collectively to:
• Increase coordinated advising and other direct student support services.
• Establish shared learning communities to exchange best practices and tools.
• Enhance their collective capacity to advocate for regional practices and institutional and community changes.

“This grant from the Greater Texas Foundation is an investment in our shared vision of a Central Texas where every student, regardless of their background, has the support they need to succeed,” said Laura Koenig, Senior Director, Center for Community Engagement. “By strengthening CenTxCAN, we can collectively work toward a more equitable future and ensure that more students are able to achieve their postsecondary goals.”
