In 2023, approximately 8.2 million learners wanted to pursue an internship, but only 3.6 million could actually secure one. To address this gap in opportunity, the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC) will launch a three-year statewide consortium in Texas focused on offering experiential learning and fueled by a $300,000 grant from Greater Texas Foundation. Ten institutions in Texas will join the consortium and have faculty trained on how to integrate work-based learning opportunities into their courses using on an online platform, Riipen.
