Dear Friends and Colleagues:
On behalf of all of us at Greater Texas Foundation, welcome to our web home. If you are a return visitor, you may notice some important changes to our site. This year, the foundation engaged FSG Social Impact Advisors in a six-month process to examine our mission, vision, funding principles and internal operations, and develop a strategic plan for the five-year period from 2010 to 2015. The changes to our site reflect the results of this process.
The foundation’s past strategy rests on the cornerstone of enabling universal access to higher education for all Texas students. In order to have a greater impact on the tough and persistent challenges facing education in Texas, we are making a shift toward being more focused in our funding. With this in mind, the foundation’s new vision is that all Texas students have equal opportunity to access and succeed in post-secondary education. More specifically, as stated in our new mission statement, we will remain focused on working to ensure that all Texas students are prepared for, have access to, persist in, and complete post-secondary education.
In the near term, we plan to work toward increasing post-secondary access and completion and improving math and science education, with a focus on increasing the number of students who are prepared to succeed in post-secondary education. Going forward, we will allocate a significant portion of our grants toward strategic initiatives, efforts that focus strongly on convening partners to exercise leadership in education and work toward specific, common goals.
This is a very exciting time at Greater Texas Foundation. Through this process, we have learned a great deal about the challenges that Texas students face on the road to post-secondary completion and how we can focus our efforts to help students overcome many of these challenges. Please visit the strategic planning section of our site to learn more about the process, the rationale, and the results.
As we work hard to achieve our new vision, we encourage you to visit the site regularly for updates and changes. Thank you for visiting.
Sincerely,
Wynn Rosser, Ph.D.
