$463,000 to  Communities Foundation of Texas on behalf of  Texas High School Project to fund establishment of an Early College High School at The University of Texas at Brownsville and in partnership with the Brownsville Independent School District. The project is designed to increase access to higher education for underserved and underrepresented students. Each Early College High School (ECHS) is located on a college campus so that ECHS students can attend both high school and college courses. Students earn a high school diploma and can earn an associate’s degree or up to 60 hours of college credit. The goal is 100% graduation and transfer into a four-year college or university.
The full replication expense of $864,000 will be funded in collaboration with The Meadows Foundation.
